Calling Time: Addressing ageism and age discrimination in alcohol policy, practice and research

Reports@2X

Evidence of age discrimination in alcohol policy, practice and research.

Older adults are given low priority in alcohol strategies for Scotland, England and Northern Ireland, suggesting that older adults are not a priority focus of policy makers’ action on alcohol in these countries. The findings are based on a survey of professionals, interviews and focus groups with older adults with alcohol problems and a summative review of relevant policy and published literature.

This report includes research from the Substance Misuse and Ageing Research Team (SMART) at the University of Bedfordshire and the International Longevity Centre – UK (ILC-UK).
